Harrison Newey will continue in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship with Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR) for a second consecutive season in 2017.
It will be the third year in total that Newey has raced with the Dutch based Van Amersfoort Racing squad. In 2015 the 18-year old single-seater talent raced in the German ADAC Formula 4 championship for the team before graduating into Formula 3 last season.
2016 saw several eye-catching performances by Newey as he learnt all about the challenge of F3 racing. With Van Amersfoort’s guidance Newey earned several points scoring positions, including a sixth place at Spa-Francorchamps.
Newey, who was crowned earlier this month as the 2016/17 MRF Challenge champion, will again race a Dallara-Mercedes. Last season saw much experienced accrued with the VAR team, which has a long and successful history in Formula 3 competition.
In preparation for the 2017 FIA Formula 3 European Championship season Harrison will appear in the official pre-season test sessions in March and April.
The first meeting of the year will take place at Silverstone over the Easter weekend – 14-16 April. In total, nine events with three races each are scheduled throughout Europe. Harrison will visit Italy (Monza), Germany (Norisring and Hockenheim), Austria (Red Bull Ring), Hungary (Hungaroring), Belgium (Spa) and The Netherlands (Zandvoort).
