DragonSpeed have announced Harrison Newey as the fourth driver of the 10Star LMP2 ORECA O7-Gibson entry for the 2020 Rolex 24 at Daytona with Hong Kong-based Flex-Box also revealed as a major season partner.
DragonSpeed becomes the latest in a distinguished line of racing teams supported by Flex-Box. The global shipping container specialists’ blue and orange colours have adorned Formula 1, prototype, GT, and Moto GP machinery over the years.
Newey said, “It’s a great surprise to have this opportunity. I’m delighted to be joining last year’s Rolex 24 class winners, with such strong drivers and one of the best crews in sportscar racing. I know we can fight to repeat at Daytona, and have fun doing it as well. I can’t wait to get started at the Roar test in January!”
DragonSpeed team principal Elton Julian said, “In Harry we have a highly impressive youngster who has already established his sportscar credentials in Europe, including at Le Mans. He’s the ideal silver-ranked driver to slot into our driving lineup of Henrik Hedman, Ben Hanley, and Colin Braun at Daytona and we’re really looking forward to working with him.”
“We’re proud to represent Flex-Box as their new partner in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar championship,” Julian continued. “It’s not just an endorsement of the team, but also of the series’ racing philosophy and strengthened commitment to the LMP2 class.”
